A Christmas conspiracy theory

Post by Jack »

It goes like this

1. The main tv broadcaster for the Premier League pays stupid money for tv rights
2 The big fish in the PL help to sell more tv packages than the minnows
3. Approaching Christmas some of the big fish are floundering.
4. At the same time one of the minnows is having a bad run.
5. The broadcaster and its sister newspaper publications call for the manager of the minnow to be sacked, cranking up the story every day.
6. The fickle easily influenced fans of the club also call for the manager to be sacked.
7. The Chairman resists to start with but eventually succumbs
8. The Club struggles to appoint a manager because the sacking of the previous manager was unplanned and the club gets relegated and the next season goes down again to League 1
9. The manager who was sacked gets appointed elsewhere and is a great success.

RIP Swansea City and good luck for the future Gary Monk

Think it's simpler than that really. Every season out of the Premier League is £90m+ lost, so chairmen start to panic if they have a chance of being one of them.

Monk started well with someone else's side and has since done worse and worse the more input he's had. One year isn't much of a chance to turn things around, but as sackings go I don't think it's that harsh.
