Obviously we would all rather be back in the Football League next season but this all sounds quite exciting! The perfect time for Torquay United to win it's first proper trophy (ignoring play-offs) and be the first team to win the new National League :scarf:

Far better than what they have provided this season. We all want the league football back but in reality this seems to be a unlikely aspiration currently and it would be nice to have more coverage whilst we suffer in non-league football.

it surely can't be too long until part the conference is subsumed into the football league, can it? I know we've had the 92 league clubs for ages but with the continued rumblings about reducing teams in the Premiership (and even the Championship) it really wouldn't surprise me if at least half of the Conference teams were 'promoted' and the League would have 5 divisions.

Prem - 18 teams (reduced by 2)
Championship - 20 teams (reduced by 4)
League 1 - 20 teams (reduced by 4)
League 2 - 20 teams (reduced by 4)
League..3? - 22-24 teams (those 14 + 8-10 conference teams)

This isn't just about making sure Torquay can call themselves a 'league' team again - half of the sides in the Conference are professional, but most are barely getting by. There's a case to be made that expanding the League can work out for everyone, particularly if a TV deal can be made too.
