Become a "Friend of TorquayFans.com"

Post by Louis » 06 Sep 2010, 22:12

Our future is looking sound form now onwards. I can't explain to you how proud I am to be running a dedicated server like this and to see so many people appreciate my hard work is great. I want to now go one step further and ensure no more issues arise and to do this I will need to keep this site running on this dedicated server, to do this costs money. I was previously on a shared hosting account meaning that our site was crammed on a server amongst a load of other websites, imagine this time the whole server being free from other people and purely us, no slow times full stop. See we don't rely on other people by running off a free forum host company, we can now reboot our server as and when we like and take backups off it seamlessly and all the data is secure and only I have the key.

As I'm sure you've noticed, we run adverts on the pages to help pay off the costs which was fine back on a shared host account but now I am unfortunately going to be putting a very large sum of my personal hard earned dosh to keep this place running. This is where I am asking if anyone would like to be a "Friend of TorquayFans.com" for a minimum donation of £5 which will go towards the upkeep of this website only. In return you will be put into a "Friend of TorquayFans.com" group which will display under your new purple username across the site and you will get the privilege of having no advertisement banners showing on any forum pages ever again.

"Friends of TorquayFans.com" members will not be treated any differently to standard members as by using the site either way you are still providing a source of income to fund this dedicated server to secure our future. On a final point I will be running automatic daily backups from now on (I have been slacking previously when it was manual!) and should any problems occur I have a backup plan always now.

Here's to TorquayFans.com!

Please PayPal your donation to payments@torquayfans.com with your username in the message box if you want to become a friend.

Louis, can I be a friend by sticking some cash in your pocket when I see you? Can't get onto PayPal at the moment. Or can send a cheque?

Yay, glad my suggestion was heeded. Ok, I'm in, 5 sparkling pounds heading your way.

Well, its probably about $7.50, but it's the same difference.
