I think we are in danger of going off thread on this one.
The purpose of my first post wasn't to insult Martin Kuhl ( he must have a sense of humour to have survived in football for so long) or to question his knowledge of the game (football is only a small part of my life and I am becoming increasingly disillusioned with it but I have supported our Club since 1963 and like a lot of supporters I fear the immediate future).
What I was questioning was the man management skills of Owers and Kuhl which is quite separate from team formations, tactics etc. There are people in all professions who themselves are technically competent but they struggle to manage people. There is a skill in getting people (including footballers) to perform consistently. Gary Owers has said on a number of occasions that the team hasn't been up for a particular game and I would question the preparation by the coaching staff. It has to be a matter of concern that all his new signings have struggled and not improved whilst they have had the benefit of fulltime coaching.

Five ~ all playing either rugby or football; plus two teeth punched out and a broken eye socket after winding opponents up. Not been in an off-field fight for over 45 years when an ex girlfriend's new beau offered me out.

I declined but he lamped me just the same! :|

I see we are still looking for a forward (target man) which is fine and good, but what about the situation on the right side of our defence? As I see it we don't have a natural right full back/wing back in the squad now that Higgins is away because of personal reasons. Against Wrexham, George Dowling played in that position.

I would make sure that the squad included players that could naturally play in the various positions based on the tactics in question. That does not seem to be the case at the moment.

So Andresson has now left so we’re a defender short as well.
Owers has got to make some serious incomings this week.

The Chester Manager must have realised his ability. Pity our manager didn’t in the summer.

Anderson's had a compulsory standing down at Chester due to a concussive injury ~ he's a fecking liability without that anyway!

Its a waste of time bringing in kids and lightweights, they wont get us out of trouble, if Nicholson can sign
experienced players in January such as Racchi, Harrad and Raccine why the hell cant Owers and Kuhl with
their supposedly superior contacts . The team is crying out for three old heads down the spine of the team
Try a bit harder! Have we got a player over 30 ? Maybe Davis . And another thing , this is the quietest Torquay
team I have ever heard, or not heard

I’d love to hear from Owers what funds and backing he’s really getting from Osborne. I suspect even someone with Osborne’s football knowledge knows you don’t stay up with kids. I suspect that’s why all we can get are kids. The death of the club seems to be his only plan leading to a pot of gold now.

Owers seems to care less and less. His points per game record is now poorer than Nicholsons. His success in bringing in any players is very evidently poorer than Nicholsons. Merse and others proclaim the new regime far more professional than previously. On paper that might be the case but in practice? From Chairman to General Manager through to the Head of Recruitment through to the Coaches we hear nothing - nothing at all. The club seems to being put down like an aged dog.
