TUFC v MTFC- Classic Games

Post by beermonster »

First whch comes to mind is that famous day in 1998 when Torquay had what we had to experienced at Stevenage this year, the first football League game carnival.. And it was a great day with us winning 2-1 with Efe Sodje scoring our first ever League goal.

Who also remembers Paul Wares 30odd yard wondergoal at Plainmoor?, not to mention the 3-3 at the Moss Rose when we were all over you yet you scored 3 within half an hour, which really was a feature of that season until Paul Ince came.

Also the Torquay promotion season with the likes of Tony Bedeau and David Graham, what a side you had that year, if i remember right you beat us 0-2 at the Moss.

Last year though was a little against the usual trend with one very dull affair and the second... well, how many shots on target to only win 1-0??!!

Hmm.. the use of the words "classic" and "Macclesfield" in the same sentence is stretching the credulity of your argument.
Fate: A police dog called Bryn bit Torquay player Jim McNichol and the time while he was receiving treatment was added onto the end of the second half.

Ok, rephrase it to 'past games'

Moss Rose, 2002/2003 season. Gulls go 3-0 up in 10mins, end up clinging on for a 3-3 draw. We were awful that day, squad down to the bare bones but somehow managed to score everytime we went near the goal.

I think Jon Brain had a howler that day, which would be true to form.

No this was way before Jon Brain was your keeper - Steve Wilson (?) was in goal that day?

Seems we were both wrong... Tommy Lee, and the whole passage of play was different to what I remember..

Oh Well, must be my age.

That match report is from 2006 though, not 02/03? And we don't go 3-0 up inside ten minutes on that one^ either? :?

Kevin Hill's overhead in the 4-1 win in 2003/04 was one of the best goals I've ever seen.

We drew 3-3 in 2006 away, I think? - Correct me if I'm wrong.

The 3-3 draw was in 2002/03. 23rd November 2002.

3-0 in the opening 10 minutes? Bloody hell! :O
