Football365 Run In

Post by MidDevon »

The results last night mean that Stockport County can no longer win League 2 !!!

With that in mind, those of you with an interest in stats might wan't to take a look at http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D3/runin.html

Football365 post a "run in" each season for every division which makes great reading...incidentally they have us down as finishing 10th.

we could still finish 24th...
10th feels about right based on the results of the past month and would represent a good season of consolidation.
We need to find 11 + bench which can compete for 95 mins at the moment we are not quite there it seems.
Perhaps we should throw on the Halpins etc to start and have the cavalry on the bench to step it up for last 20minutes when lets face it the games are won/lost.
At the kerb halt - look right - look left -look right again - if all clear quick march!

This chart is a little misleading. Barnet as an example can gain 69 points, i believe. However, with teams at the top playing each other they can't finish top.

Also placing us at 10th is taking our avg. as at now. You will not most teams stay in same position.

we usually dip off abit this time of year, but more often than not have a strong finish,

id rather knick into the last playoff spot on a good run of form rather than be battling to stay there

No statistics are perfect, and Nick is correct in the fact that it is not as complex as working out which teams are bound to take points off each other, thus affecting others teams performance. However it is a great tool when there are under 10 games to go, and the only one like it that I am aware of.

The site is in the main used by football punters deciding who to back, and some of the stats are very impressive.

BBC Sport do a prediction set up that's quite good
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... efault.stm
Fate: A police dog called Bryn bit Torquay player Jim McNichol and the time while he was receiving treatment was added onto the end of the second half.
