You'll probably get a reply, but they'll only tell you, want they want you to hear. reading through the replies, I do see both sides of the argument here. It was put to me by another forum member at the last home game, if G.I can pull the rug from the feet of Bristol Rovers with the size and passion of their fan-base, what's going to stop from doing it here, it was a fair and valid point.

However I think mattpuma makes a fair point above also, why make it even easier for them, sell 1500 season tickets have 4,000 gates at every home game, to fair will not stop G.I from screwing the club over, but makes it a lot harder for them to justify, than if they sell 200 season tickets, and we gates 1,200.

As fan's we have to fight for our club now, the best way to do that, is to turn up in numbers support the team, whilst making our feelings to the owners clear, by boycotting, mattpuma's right, playing right in to their hands.

Anyone know how many ST's have been sold?
It's usually a very good mood indicator of TUFC support.

Living 450 miles away, unfortunately not, although of course I shall be following TUFC all the way.

Woking are offering their Early Bird season tickets for just £99 and have currently sold 1400. Wonder how many have been sold at TQ1 to date?

Hmmm ...... that suggests to me that Woking are making the same mistake as we did last season. They have been reported as having financial difficulties, so are they selling their season tickets at a cut price to get themselves through the pre-season, as we did last season? Time will tell. Let's see how they do next season.

Yeah definitely not a good sign, especially how cheap they are (half of our ill fated deal last season!). Woking as far as I'm aware do not have the financial strength to take a hit on gate revenue in order to grow their fanbase in the long term, so it's somewhat worrying for them.

I'm fairly sure Woking have new owners or some new investment, allowing them to make this deal. Could see them hit an average of around 1800/1900, which I imagine would be their highest in a number of years.

Woking stated they were in negotiation with a new investor and hence confident that this investment will secure the long term future of the Club and are about to enter the final stages of these negotiations. As a result, the Board were not in a position to offer a new contract to the Gary Hill/Steve Thompson management team and subsequently took on Anthony Limbrick to be their new manager.

They have been seeking new investment for some time after gaining planning permission to demolish those horrible old wooden stand and build a new 3,000 seater complete with integral flats within the footprint of the ground.

Woking Football Club has for many years been seeking external investment to help make the club more financially secure, give them access to wider expertise in football, and be more competitive on the pitch....it seems like things are on the move!

This was put up on their website on 5th May:-

Woking Football Club has for many years been seeking external investment to help make the club more financially secure, give us access to wider expertise in football, and be more competitive on the pitch.

To this end we have partnered with Blackbridge Sports, a company that acts for UK and international investors in sports around the world, to bring investment into the club.

We are delighted to announce that investment has been agreed, and the transfer of shares in Woking Football Club Ltd held by the existing majority shareholder will go to a General Meeting for approval as per the club’s Articles of Association. That meeting will be held on a date to be decided towards the end of May, when the identity of the investor will be announced.

More announcements will follow in due course.

The Board of Woking Football Club‎

Chairman of Blackbridge Sports - Alexander Jarvis

Woking are a club partly owned by their supporters' trust........

Material shareholders holding in excess of 10% of the Ordinary shares of Woking Football Club Limited are currently Peter Jordan ~ the ultimate beneficial owner ~ who controls 68%, and The Cardinals Supporters’ Society Limited which controls 27% of the voting rights in the Company.

Amongst their board are chairwoman Rosemary Johnson MBE, a former Mayor of Woking and legendary former manager Geoff Chapple who acts as 'football secretary' ~ the calibre of football knowledge so essential for any professional football club in my opinion.

Club shareholder and sponsor Ashley Read made a bid for inclusion on the board a couple of years ago when Jordan (then 62) intimated he would 'like to retire'. Read does not appear on the list of directors of the club so one has to assume that his bid was unsuccessful whilst Jordan remains in situ.

On reading up the situation, I would surmise that 36 year old Read's public comments about the club being run by 'an old boys;' network' and of trying to gain entry onto the board through aligning with the trust might well have led to that failure and the resultant engagement of a specialist firm to find them a significant investor.

Like many club's, Woking appear to be under-capitalised and struggling to pay the sort of player wages commensurate with being able to mount a challenge to strike out and attempt for the next level of football ~ the English Football League where (of course) they have never been.

Their ground is owned by former club owner Chris Ingram through his company Kingfield Community Sports Centre Limited and only has one decent stand built behind a goal on the proceeds of a fantastic cup run under Chapple over twenty years ago and the absolute minimum of corporate and social facilities. Ingram has frequently spoken of remaining committed to developing the site and seeing it through to “a successful conclusion.” A neighbouring development of flats indicate that planning permission given for a similar development within the footprint of their ground could lead to the sweeping away of the unsightly and decrepit old main stands and include those much needed facilities. Those of you who have been there will testify as to the 'crapness' of the low, open terrace opposite hemmed in by the David Lloyd Tennis Centre which overlooks and somewhat dominates the ground.

There is so much money in and around Woking that I've always been surprised they've never been able to tap into local riches. Super wealthy people are congregated all around that part of Surrey and the football ground is almost an eyesore in comparison to the surrounding area.
