I added to my programme collection over the holiday with one from 7th Dec 1963, TUFC v Aldershot in the FA Cup second round. The paragraph titled "Apathy" in the programme notes by The Trekker brought a smile to my face as it occurred to me that the theme wasn't much different to many of the posts on the forum. I've included the first paragraph for context. We lost the match 2 - 3.

I just loved reading Gullpower`s attachments and I now attach a QPR programme v Torquay Utd from October 1960.

What is interesting is the piece under the heading Welcome Torquay which is all about the great Don Mills who many of us remember as probably the classiest player ever to represent the club. Anyway I am sure the old codgers amongst us will enjoy the read.

Wonderful stuff!

The description of Don Mills as being 'frail built' when he started at Loftus Road reminds me of when Eunan O'Kane first came on as a substitute for us more recently. I was stood in the old 'enclosure' area immediately behind the dug out (that was before PB had a rope put up to try to stop fans from making audible suggestions on his team selection!) and I thought that Eunan looked a little light weight at the time.

It didn't matter though as both players were/are naturals as quoted in those programme notes from 1960.

On the back page of the 8 page programme is the Division 3 League Table. 3 Clubs are now in the Premier League Bournemouth, Hull City and Watford .
2 Clubs are in the National League Torquay and Tranmere Rovers. Even lower down the pyramid are Halifax Town.
In the Championship are QPR,Barnsley,Bristol City,Brentford and Reading.
How times change.

Whew! Portugull is an older codger than I! Before my time (in TUFC supporting) but still great. The Old Codgery at the back of the pop. stand would always agree with me than Robin Stubbs (The Prince of Plainmoor) was great - but that Don Mills was greater. So if there are any REAL old codgers on the site, then answer the question: who was the greatest, Mills or Stubbs?

Wivel I think few would disagree Robin along with Sammy Collins were our greatest goalscorers, the records prove it, but Don Mills was a different type of player and I really do not it is fair to compare them. Mills was pure class.
