Not quite sure how to approach this match thread. Will it be our last match as a club? Will we playing on Saturday under the ownership of GI /masters? Will we be under fresh ownership? Whatever happens this match is winnable, but I feel the off field events will dictate the result on Saturday. How can Nicholson motivate a team of players, when they could all be out of a job. It would not surprise me that they travel in a mini bus on Saturday morning. Anyway my prediction is 4-0 York, but if we have fresh ownership I go 2-1 Torquay.

Another 2-0 defeat. I can't see any upturn in our fortunes until January, assuming we still have a club then. We have a very few players who could be playing at a higher level: goalkeeper Moore, perhaps, and an injury-prone Luke Young. Most of our players don't seem to be able to take advantage of the opportunity they've been given to prove themselves and improve themselves; they are a bunch of amateurs masquerading as professional footballers, and they would not be where they are if manager Nicholson had not been so limited in his options, thanks to the incompetent way the club has been run in recent times.

Was looking forward to this...
Now I'm not so sure....
I hope the team can put the off field shinanikins to one side and put in a good 90min performance.
Sounded like we should have beaten Braintree and hopefully we can pull it off against York.
They are worse than us so it's a real six pointer.
Difficult without Youngy and even more so Moore......
Would be happy with a point, but three should be the aim.
Will be there with Bixieupnorth the Sheffield de-dar and any other riff-raff that turn up from that dodgy city.

COYY!!!!!

Having watched York for the past few years I can safely say they are complete sh*te. The table doesn't lie. Keep Parkin quiet, get at them and you'll score goals. It's inevitable.

Make the most of the trip those if you going. York City will be going bust well before Torquay and with recent developments at Plainmoor that's saying something.

Sean Newton recently been made captain. He has experience which is what the spine of the side need but unfortunately he's rubbish at defending.

There really could not be an easier away game here. Get ahead and the crowd just go silent. They don't even complain anymore. Confidence is so fragile with this squad of youngsters that Torquay really need to go there and just get balls in the area at every opportunity.

They won't be coming back to win from a goal down that's for sure.

Parkin is the main danger although if we're being honest he's well past it now. It's purely desperation and an attempt at getting some experience in the side which McNamara so callously ignored.

Easy this. 3-1 gulls

Nicho .. what's the point of signing players on loan and then not play them. Rooney out Gerring back in as he has more experience !!! Jeez !! Not experienced and he is crap !

Or just horses for courses. Gerring did well against Parkin on Boxing Day last year and will match him in terms of style. Reading Nicholson's comments about Rooney this week it's probably quite likely he didn't want a teenage rookie up against a crafty, experienced, foul winning, type of striker.

17 York fouls in the first 40 minutes, 2 by Torquay. Making for a scrappy game.

I take your point Gulliball but it will piss off the parent clubs if we do not give their players game time.

Good first half, now standard second half and holding on. We could do with full time...

Maybe, just maybe our luck started to turn around today. How the hell did we hold on today.

Totally agree. And a clean sheet away from home.

Bottom-of-the-table York were the dominant team for much of the game, but we held them to a goalless draw. Unless the squad is strengthened in the New Year, we're heading for another relegation battle. :(

On the other hand, we could still get into the play-offs.. :)

Were you there?
We were the better side first half - and it was only the last 20mins where we dropped off, but they were supposed to be the home team......

A good job in those last twenty that Brendan was in goal and their finishing was as bad as ours!!!!
