Torquay v Lincoln

Post by Dave »

We find ourselves playing Lincoln again just a few weeks after falling to a comfortable 2.0 defeat at Sincil bank. Despite a shock 5.3 F.A cup defeat at the hands of Whitehawk Lincoln have been in pretty decent League form of late winning 5 of their 7 games since the two sides last met. Once again our leaking defence will come up against Lincoln's front duo of Rhead and Hearn, a partnership already worth 21 goals.

From a Torquay point of view

The Gulls go into this game with a real defensive selection headache, with Exodus and non-contract defender Gerring both side lined and Smith now suspended it will leave The Gulls short at the back, new signing Verma is set to miss the game, but in some brighter news, Fairhurst should be back in the squad after a long injury lay off.

Didn't get home until late Saturday, first job check the score, left me with a numb feeling as the realization our team may not be able to pull themselves out of the hole their in now. Watched the video back and from the little we can glean from that I have to say the manner of that defeat was appalling, and the blame has to lie with some of the worst, schoolboy defending you'll see.

I have question that, with a management duo both accomplished defenders in there own right, this is area of the game you'd expect our team to get right.

Apologies for the shortened match thread, one of very few times I didn't copy each section as I wrote in case of an accident, I managed to accidentally wipe out the original thread I written on the very last paragraph , frustrating on my part, and haven't got the time to re-write the whole thing.

genuine fear we will get completely embarrassed tomorrow, a summit to a really sh!tty couple of weeks. 0-6. This week has made me lose the little faith that I had.

I'm looking forward to seeing plenty of goals at the game and very little Gulls!

6 goals might be about right!
Life is like TUFC. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. :goal:

Short edit done. Have to agree in some way with the above sentiment, I am going to the game with little expectation, will be delighted with a draw, a win would make my weekend, but expecting defeat here.

But for me the fight goes on.

My biggest worry is the fixtures coming up.

Tomorrow will be a interesting benchmark on further progress, our next 4 games we play 3 teams in the top 4. Up till the middle of January all our opponents are in the top 4.

We need between 46-54 points to have a chance of survival.

Everyone just needs to get behind the club during this difficult period, its by no means going to be easy and it may come down to goal average. Kevin is a good guy with a positive attitude, lets all wish him and the team well for tomorrow, one game at a time is the way forward for everyone.

As others have already posted, I don't have any good feelings about tomorrow's match. I think it's going to be a cold bleak November afternoon at Plainmoor. Yet sometimes when backs are against the wall, the unexpected happens. Football has a habit of turning results on their head. Let's hope it happens tomorrow.

The length of a pitch must be between 100 yards (90m) and 130 yards (120m) and the width not less than 50 yards (45m) and not more than 100 yards (90m). Anyone know the dimensions of our pitch?

....and there have been plenty of cold, dark, bleak afternoons at Plainmoor over the years. But, by this time of the season, the die is cast and we more or less know what is going to happen. I think we'll draw a few, win even less, and escape relegation by some fluke or other. Thus:

Just off to Plainmoor. Nice crisp afternoon. With one win in 18 this is a must win for me.

United to win 2-1 gate 1598.
