And just then another goal to Grimsby. Rice blames Downes. Downes blames Rice. I give up.

A quick search of twitter and the verdict is unanimous: 2nd goal Rice's fault.

Downes goal. Then they come right down the other end and almost score. This game sounds like it's a hot mess.

Rice carries ball over his own goal line. You can't make this stuff up.

"Against the run of play" says the commentator for the third time. We might end up conceding 8 goals but we sure are dominating.

Even when we lose we have been playing well for large parts of the game, and scoring goals. To lose 4-3, 4-3 and 3-2 in a few weeks is ridiculous, especially when your goalkeeper is giving away goals at a rate of between one and three seemingly every week. Hargreaves didn't have much room to work with in the summer, and so we have a young and inexperienced team, but a very, very good one. To date we are about where most people expected us to be, and are right in the play-off mix, which would be a good season for us. We have weaknesses in defence to sort out, but given time and a decent budget to work with, I think we can do this. That said, to be having end-to-end games every week, and often losing because of silly individual errors, is incredibly frustrating.

Yep - the commo team couldn't believe that we had conceded the first goal as we were "all over them".

We may be scoring goals, but we are not converting all the chances we get (I appreciate no team scores from ALL their chances), but it is crippling us, as other teams are able to capatalise on our defensive frailties (Rice)

Difficult situation for Hargreaves now, he must be looking at Rice alternatives with very little wiggle room.

Should he let Seabright be the FA cup goalie? See how he does? Not sure.

Right up until their first goal we were all over them!

But we didn't score when we were on top and got punished by a neat finish.

Great equaliser by Young, inch perfect freekick!

Cue Martin Rice.

Their striker had got in behind but didn't pose a huge threat from a narrow angle and a very close Downes - Rice rushes out very belatedly and falls over at the strikers feet who taps it over him into the net! 1-2

Somehow ended the half with 2 in the book thanks to the idiotic pint sized ref

Equalised again from a set piece and Grimsby didn't pose many problems.

Cross into our box, over McDonald and Rice went down and held on. Didn't look like a goal but assistant - in line - gave it straight away.
Only conclusion i can give is Rices starting position was well inside his own goal and he fell within it. Either way crap goalkeeping, poor distripution all game, deserves to be dropped!

So: who's the worst United 'keeper ever? Martin Rice or Mark Coombe (I'd go for Coombe.)

Martin Rice, christ. I was defending him at the beginning because he can pull off class saves at times, he just can't do the basics right. Their 3rd goal was unbelievable, I have no clue whether it was over the line or not, but if it was, how stupid must you be as a keeper to catch the ball behind the line. Anyway, was quite a good performance from us in the opening 20 minutes and I have to say Luke Young is one of the most enjoyable players to watch at Torquay in a long time, you can just tell from free kicks that he's going to cause havoc every time.
