Well done today, your lads thoroughly deserved the win. Best team we've played this season.

Not sure what was really wrong with us today but you were by far the better team in the first half and although there was a bit of luck with the deflection on the 2nd goal, you definitely deserved a 2-goal lead at the break. Chris has got you playing some decent passing football.

We came more into it in the 2nd half and had a lot more possession but a combination of poor finishing and excellent defending ensured we didn't get a goal back. We we're pushing hard to get back into the game but when we lost John-Lewis to injury with 10 minutes to go having used all our subs then that was about that.

Anyway, well done and if you can produce performances like that regularly, you'll definitely be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

I still think there is room for Levi Ives. The problem if he's selected he would be missing because of international duty and could be disrupting

I agree about Ives, but Cruise has really turned it around, and assuming he would be reasonably cheap, its great to not have to rely on a 16/17 year old for a whole season, and Cruise deserves it after coming through the stick and poor performances.

Another good win today, Grimsby couldn't live with us in the first half and we ground out the victory, soaking up everything they threw at us in the second half.
Special mention for Martin Rice, who pulled off some top class saves and showed a lot of confidence in his performance today.

Listening to BBC Humberside after the game, a lot of compliments from Grimsby fans regarding our good performance. Lets hope this winning run continues

That was an excellent first-half performance. Passed the ball well, pressed the opposition, looked dangerous on the attack and solid in defence. Bowman should have scored the first goal but missed a sitter after we carved open the Grimsby backline. We didn't have long to wait for the breakthrough, though. Tonge played a clever ball into the feet of O'Achie, who held off his marker with his back to goal and laid the ball off for the onrushing Richards to squeeze his finish past the keeper from close range.

O'Achie was again instrumental for the second goal, tackling his opponent on the halfway line to set up a counter attack. His through ball found Bowman, who went past a defender before trying to cut back inside him on the edge of the box. He was tackled but Young arrived on queue, darted into the left-hand side of the area and fired in a deflected shot before cupping his ears right in front of the home supporters. Chapell nearly made it three moments later after a deft one-two with O'Achie, but his shot across goal just rolled wide. Grimsby were restricted to attempts from outside the box at the other end, with Rice making a couple of routine stops.

However, after threatening to run away with the game, the second half was a completely different story. Grimsby piled on the pressure and we were sitting too deep. Unlike the first half, we surrendered possession far too easily and were just hoofing it aimlessly forward. We were starting to get stretched and looked tired, which is hardly surprising given our efforts on the road this week. Grimsby created four or five chances, but they were wasteful in front of goal and denied by a couple of superb Rice saves. We didn't come close to scoring after the break but in the end it didn't matter. I do think if Grimsby had scored one, a second would have quickly followed and we definitely rode our luck at times.

Rice pulled off some outstanding saves and the whole back four played well. I noticed they were working together as a unit in the warm-up with Hodges and they certainly looked on the same wavelength today. Tonge and Cruise have stepped up their games, while Downes and MacDonald are forming a strong partnership. In midfield, Richards and Young dominated a first half in which they both scored, but they were overrun after the interval and their passing went astray. It was a Jekyll and Hyde performance from that pair. Chapell used possession well and drifted in and out of the game. Ajala was impressive - not just with his attacking play but also his tracking back and tackling. I've not seen a winger work as hard defensively since Zebroski. Bowman was disappointing in the first half and missed a gilt-edged chance before heading off injured. Yeoman struggled to make an impact when he replaced him but we did spend the second half on the back foot and he ended the game on the right wing. O'Achie was instrumental in both goals and my pick for MOTM. Wakefield added a bit of steel in midfield but didn't see much of the ball and Pearce had a five-minute cameo up front at the end.

It's a fantastic result and our first half was a pleasure to watch. Just a shame that we struggled after that but it was a magnificent effort from all the players. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lacklustre performance on Tuesday because I think these last two games have taken a lot out of us.

As said before the footballing graveyard is full of burnt out injury prone 28 year olds over played when they were youngsters, CH has a duty not just to the club, but to manage, protect and develop Levi Ives' career , right now CH is doing a great job on that score, Levi's Chance will come, as fan I'm just glad with the return to form of Tonge and Cruise, with the knowledge that MacDonald is more than capable of covering the RB spot, and Ives can come in at any time at LB for the first time in along time, not forgetting Pearce probably the best defender at the club who cant get a game right now, our team looks secure at the back.

You know full well that all these players were signed on the understanding that they would be going if someone bid the going rate for them,. that was not the board trying to get their money back quickly it was the players making their own minds up how much they wanted to be paid. the board wanted to keep them. there was absolutly nothing that you can point to that tells anyone that the board were selling to get their money back quickly. I might as well accuse you have fathering Doris. at least some on the pop side could actually visualise that. after all we still think he's your love child.

TBH im delighted for tonge after last season......i didnt get how he could have been so bad with the experience that he had in the FL before.

i feel sorry for pearce, and when he came on playing up front, i was praying he'd score with his first touch! =D

Still early days of course, but huge credit to Hargreaves and Hodges for recognising the potential in these young players and coaching them to play as well as they are. Remember - these are young players 'surplus to requirement' at Brighton, Southend, Plymouth, York and in Ayala's case ...... Welling !!! I picked up a comment from the Chester website after last Tuesday's game - 'they played with energy and pace'. Exactly what we didn't do last season and the frustrating thing is ..... we could all bliddy well see it for ourselves !!

Fantastic win today ..... the best I expected was a draw after a long trip and a tough match at Chester on Tuesday night.
