Smaller attendance than I imagined it might be but it may have been the result and performance that persuaded a few to miss it. Hopefully, the good result (that appears to be happening) will persuade a few more for the weekend.

It was only Welling, but it was a good performance by the whole side and deserved the victory due to our play. Stand out players were Cameron, Young, Ajala (obviously, should have started instead of Briscoe who didn't play well), Bowman and Yeoman. To be honest, Tonge and Cruise both had a good game as well. I thought Downes and MacDonald had an okay game, but were a little sloppy in places. Harding was the same. Ricey made a couple of great saves towards the end to keep the scoreline read 3-0. Tall gangily bloke (I know his name is Duane.....something, but that's his name for me as it has been since the Dorchester away friendly) was okay, nothing special. He'll be a good player to have to bring on at the end of games. The goals were excellent. Fantastic link up play between Cameron and Bowman, Ryan then ran round the keeper to slot it in. Great pen by Cameron and the lob over the keeper by Ajala was class.

Everyone calmed down now? Realised that it's not the end of the world that we didn't beat Gateshead (who beat Wrexham 3-0 away, so they have a great side). However, I know the moaners will say "it was only Welling, we had to beat them" there really is no pleasing some people. If we play like we did tonight, we'll see the same scoreline on Saturday.
