Torquay vs Swindon Town (a) 10/10/17

Post by Bristol_Gull »

Just found out about this 'behind closed doors' friendly away vs Swindon Town on Tuesday - does anyone have any insights regarding the result or line ups from the game?

I'm interested to know if any triallists or players returning from injury played?

If you listen to the Devon Live Podcast with Dave Thomas you will learn it was a bit of a disaster.
Swindon put out most of their First Team and several trialists failed to show.
As a result we had a young inexperienced side and Ryan Clarke spent the afternoon picking the ball out of the net!
It sounds like Gary Owers was none to pleased and several Agents will now be in his black book.

If that was Nicholson and Herrera there would be calls for them to be hung!

He wants to be careful; any more of that and he'll have a bad back! =D

Good to see the club being thoroughly professional as ever.

Don't really see how it's the clubs fault if a series of triallists let GO down to be fair.

By all means criticise when it's warranted, but I don't see how this can be one of those scenarios

I intended no criticism of the Club or Gary Owers who was clearly badly let down by a number of Agents who were trying to get their players a contract. When the players failed to turn up Gary was left in a difficult position exacerbated by Swindon playing their first team.

How many goals?!

Shame for Clarke as he looked solid before injury - I’d be hard pressed to choose between both of our keepers
