Re: Craig Stanley

GK RB .... Ellis.... Robertson.... Nicholson RW ... CM ... Mansell ... LW ST ... Kee Subs: LRT, Lathrope, Macklin, Halpin, Sub , Sub , Sub You can't argue with that really, take out Zebroski and O'Kane and the players we have contracted to the club now don't look the same. There's a hell of a lot o...

Re: The buck stops here!

I know it wouldn't be enforceable, but that's why it would be a gentlemans agreement rather than a clause, like when a players moves clubs and doesn't play against the team that just sold him. Man Utd did something like that the other year with a goalkeeper I seem to remember. I was just speculating...

Re: Date of New Manager Appointment

Buckle was 1/4 for a job last season (possibly even Bristol Rovers, I forget which it was), and didn't get it. The market for this is so small that it doesn't take much for odds to move massively without any foundation.

Re: The buck stops here!

It would be tricky to put into a contract, but we could have tried to arrange a gentlemans agreement with BRFC and Buckle, for example, in return for letting him go (and possibly reduced compensation), he agreed not to sign Stanley, Branston and Oastler, and not pursue any contracted TUFC players. M...

Re: Date of New Manager Appointment

If we were starting last Monday then 2 weeks to the final appointment is still a long time, given the situation we are in right now starting the season late. However, we have known for the last month that Buckle is going, and our Chairman was at the Memorial Ground before the 1st leg of the semi whe...

Re: What is the Matter with you People

Personally, I don't support Torquay because I expect us to win every week or challenge up the top end of the table in front of huge crowds. I expect most of us on here support Torquay because it's our local team and after going to Plainmoor we fell in love with the club and have kept the passion for...

Re: Scott bevan.. gone.

We do have a retained list then? Nice of the club to let us know. I'll add the BRFC website to my favourites, it's where we're more likely to hear any news about us. In the last week, the only things added to the website are an increasingly trivial list of events loosely connected to the club. There...

Re: Craig Stanley

A huge loss for us. I know he was never our player, but without Buckle moving, it was almost certain he'd have been here next season. He gave us his all, did a lot more for the club than he needed to (coming to games after he left and when he was suspended), but having joined Bristol Rovers it's har...

Re: Torquay Summer Transfers Thread INs and OUTs

Jake Cole would be an excellent signing, he's always impressed me when playing at Plainmoor. Having been at Barnet he shouldn't be out of our price range either. But there's no point speculating on who's avaliable now as we're not going to have a manager until well into next week.

Re: Date of New Manager Appointment

Can't add anything to what CP Gull said - that sums everything up perfectly. We can't afford to rush it, but every day at this stage is crucial. If we haven't chosen a candidate yet, then we obviously aren't already looking at, and talking to, potential targets. By the time we have a manager appoint...

Re: Scott bevan.. gone.

He was another player who played a big part in our promotion back to the league, and we should all be thankful to him for that. He's got himself a better deal and we can't blame him for moving on. If Bevan had stayed then we'd have had a solid enough L2 keeper. Obviously we have to replace him with ...

Re: the cost of Mr Lee leaving

That's disgraceful... it's about 20% of our playing budget for a year! Our best players are getting around 1k a week, so this is equal to Branston, Zebroski, O'Kane and Mansell for a year. No wonder we're having to cut everything...

Re: Saving every penny...

Well it adds about 2 days to the process for a start, and we want a fast appointment. Applying for jobs by post is a thing of the past - I left uni last summer and spent a few months applying for jobs all over the place and only a tiny percentage, maybe 1 in 20 were apply by post. I agree it doesn't...
