Torquay United 1 Birmingham City 7 - 7th January 1956
I imagine the paper was to celebrate Birmingham City actually getting to the final. 1956 was the Bert Trautmann final, when Man City's German goalie played with a broken neck. Man City won the game 3-1. In fact Birmingham City have never won the FA Cup.

What it was REALLY like to be there (1965 Spurs game)
Floodlights were first used at Plainmoor in the same season as this FA Cup run, but when during the season I don't know.

7.30 Saturday Kick offs
Without studying it myself I do belive the fixture for the Crewe game in 1987 was actually originally scheduled for a 7.30pm kick off !! Which being the last game of seasons seems crazy to be at a later time. I haven't heard that myself but it wouldn't surprise me if the club had wanted to try and ...

What it was REALLY like to be there (1965 Spurs game)
Sorry and I hope I'm not subject bombing this subject but I'm sure people who respond might have memories of the Leeds game in about 1955. I'm positive my dad who has and does support torquay and has been attending games for the last 65 years told me he bunked off school to go to plainmoor for loud...

7.30 Saturday Kick offs
I thought it was done to give local league footballers who played Saturday afternoons the chance to go up Plainmoor.
Remember the 1980 game, last game of the season, you lot hammered us 2-5.

Banning orders issued
Is it just for home games, away clubs with 2 stewards and a dog will find it difficult to monitor if it also includes away games As I understand it only the police can issue banning orders for away matches and to achieve that they need a court conviction. As far as I know there have been no court a...

The Gary Johnson effect
How on earth is Masters going to get millions from Truro City? Masters has no financial stake in the S4C. Truro City will just be tenants if it ever gets built.

The Gary Johnson effect
With regards to "cash being flashed" , like Southampton I can't really see where it's spent with regards to playing side. Any incoming players since Johnson arrived have probably been afforded from the players he has shipped out, quite a few I believe. It's possible that Johnson is on high...

East Thurrock v Torquay United 2.2.19
Because the team stay over night for away fixtures they had already started their trip and spent several hours at Sedgemoor services on the M5 awaiting outcome of pitch inspection.standupsitdown wrote: ↑01 Feb 2019, 20:10 Snowing here now so looks as if a sensible decision to call it off today and save wasted journeys.

The Final 15 Games
It's totally balanced to the Premier League unfortunately but for how long it can sustain itself with increased costs for buying players eventually something has to give. As long as they can keep selling the tv rights they are ok. If sky one day fail to cough up there are the internet giants like N...

The in-house commo may be great but the only people listening are those who go looking for it. If we are to grow as a club we need the local media showing an interest. Keep the BBC out and the club will shrivel. What we have seen since GJ came in has been brilliant, but we need to take every opport...

Brazilian winger trials for Torquay
I saw that last night. Looks like an advertisement for UKFT. Just because he has had a trial and is Brazilian doesn't mean he was any good.

Be realistic. Reid struggled in the conference even though I always felt he had potential. He's dropped to regional football and scored well but a Championship club? Come on, be serious. I think Teigngull has been on the sauce again. I think this is right. Reid does need to prove himself at a highe...

I would say that Janneh would be here next season promotion depending, just because he is only 19 years old and it would be a good step up for him in the national league. Would be surprised if Opi didn't sign as well.... anyway, in Johnson we trust Good point about Janneh, I forgot about his age, w...
