Southend United

happytorq wrote: 16 May 2023, 14:41 A big fan of how we booed them so vociferously that they refused to come out at half time.
At least we didn’t have to suffer Lembit Opik or Mama Cheeky. One thing I do remember is how gracious the Southend fans were after the game.

Southend United

happytorq wrote: 15 May 2023, 19:04 we won 2-1 to go up. And it was daylight robbery; we really weren't very good and Reuben Hazell got away with a nailed-on penalty. Even now I can't believe the referee didn't give it.
We deserved it because we had to endure watching the Cheeky Girls sing before the game!

Sounds as though the Southend owner has the money but chooses not to pay the tax each time. You'd have to assume he gets some sort of benefit out of this rather than just paying it when its due - so it's a different situation to the publican who (presumably) didn't have the money to cover the VAT. ...

Southend United

Sadly there are too many people like the Southend owner involved in football. Whatever fit and proper tests that existed once are clearly not applied any more. It’s very sad for the fans, who have to endure the worst of people in their lives. I suspect this bloke will pay up somehow. When I was in p...

Southend United

…. Or would the EFL just relegate only one team? It would be legally & morally wrong to only relegate one team from the EFL. The league Southend have played in during 2022/23 is the National League, if their potential insolvency happens it should surely only have implications for teams who play...

Altrincham v Torquay United, 3pm, Saturday 22nd April 2023

Its got nothing to do with goal difference. FFS ignore the Chesterfield game, our form over the last few weeks has been good. The opportunity to get out of this was there. Unfortunate;y we gave away so many points. Losing to the likes of Southend, Dagenham and Wealdstone at home and Dorking away. T...

Torquay v Dagenham & Redbridge 25th March 2023

We needed a second goal (knowing we always concede late) but sat back too much second half. What happened in the Pop Side with stewards? Girl taken away by police and a lot of angry people after the game. I didn’t see that happen, but I did see the Dagenham sub who won the penalty, Sidney Ibie, run...

Torquay United v Wealdstone - 11th March

A valiant performance by the 10 men indeed. I wondered what was the difference between Lapslie's lunge from the ground and their player's lunge from the ground to kick Halstead in the head - both going for the ball with a high foot as they were sprawled, and yet no action taken other than a late po...

Dorking v Torquay Tuesday 21st February

Depends which way you want to interpret it. Those photos dont show that Evans had won the ball and had previously kicked it backwards. If you watch in real time it would give you a completely different interpretation. You've got to remember that the referee isnt seeing it from this view either. He'...

Dorking v Torquay Tuesday 21st February

have you seen the replay? its a yellow card, Evans wants to steal the ball by putting his foot next to it but it lands on the ankle of the Dorking player, you see his ankle bend towards the floor I have seen it. I completely disagree with you. I’ve looked three times. The Dorking player stuck his l...

Dorking v Torquay Tuesday 21st February

Definite booking and therefore sending off, Evans deliberately steps on his foot/ankle you see this all the time in football now and I hate it. Sorry, that is nonsense. Evans did nothing wrong, except perhaps to leave his leg trailing. The Dorking player made a huge meal of it, was up and about ver...

Red card changed the game and you wont see a worse one. Referee was an absolute disgrace. Fell apart after the sending off but doesnt alter the fact that the decision changed the game. we were looking comfotable at that stage. Agreed, a terrible decision, made worse by the playacting from the Dorki...

Fair chance he’ll be a thug. Let’s hope for a decent ref.

Torquay v Maidstone. 28/02/23.

Poor quality game, but I must say that I thought the referee, David Richardson, was ok yesterday. Obviously there’s always a few calls you could question, but that’s the nature of the game. He actually walked off the pitch smiling, unlike the others who need an army of stewards shielding the torren...

Transfer News & Signings

Moaning about players you haven’t seen yet is to be expected from the minority of fans, the usual suspects. These seem to be a decent crop of young signings to me, I’m sure there will be another loanee or two to come in.
