Praise from Pompey

I was delighted to read the letter from the Portsmouth fan published on the OS yesterday. Two things particularly gladdened my heart. First, was the way in which the Club (particularly Dave and Andrew Candy) had presented itself to visiting supporters. It can only help the Club to be known as a good...

Re: Tuesday friendly against Argyle

Just got back from the game. It doesn't come accross with the other reports but I thought we were well beaten by a side with far more experience and, dare I say it, ability. The greatest disparity, however, was between the two defences. Ours was very shaky with Deaman at fault for both goals - Argyl...

Re: Ben Harding

Wasn't at the game yesterday but noticed that he only got one star in the Sunday Independent so he must have been c**p (again!)

Mind you he wasn't alone in getting one star - I think Ball and Hawley also got the ultimate "accolade".

Re: Who did I meet today?

You know who else has a horrendous injury record? Ryan Giggs has glass hamstrings. Jack Wilshere breaks his leg every other week. Marlon King trained once a week to protect his knees. Paul Scholes has one of the most serious cases of asthma that medical science has ever seen. Aaron Downes and Tom C...

Thanks Dave, didn't realise how the counter worked. Apologies for not having tested thoroughly before raising it.

Re: HELP

Hi Louis, I've tried PM-ing you about another problem but the message is stuck in my outbox. The "other problem" is the fact that the posting totals against each poster's entry have frozen. For instance your postings on this thread all have a total of 1045. I don't know if these bugs are a...

I reckon its time to flush out all those cynics who for the last few years have been rubbishing MR as a second string keeper, never mind as a first team regular like this season. His performances through both the PSFs and the early league and Cup games have been fantastic. Last night he had very lit...

The Cornish Question?

This is not as bad an idea as GS makes out. I live on the border between the Argyle and Gulls catchment areas (well, perhaps well to the Argyle side actually!) and knew several people who used to support and attend both team's games. Not sure they still do but such an idea may boost attendances for ...

Re: Torquay United v Portsmouth - JPT Rnd 1

Just got back from the game and whilst I was gutted at the penalty shoot-out, the better team went through on the night. Portsmouth were well set up, very skilful and very energetic, closing us down and preventing us playing in midfield so our front men were totally isolated. I think we only had fou...

Exile is right - I remember vividly what happened when we had Manse and O'Kane playing together - we shipped goals until the holding player came in. So we then go back to 4-5-1. It worked last time because we had Rene Howe. Are we really suggesting that Ball, Howley or Benyon could play the role of ...

Re: Nathan Craig

I don't see NC as the complete answer. The problem in my mind is that we don't have the right player to accompany him in centre mid. AK wants some bulk and height in midfield (Harding) and also a box to box player (Mansell). So, if he was paired with Manse we would line up with two very slight playe...

Re: Torquay United v Hartlepool United - 31/8/13

Can't believe the negative nature of many (not all) of the posts on this thread. Brucie's comments are particularly incomprehensible. Were you actually at the game? You weren't in your usual seat! Certainly it wasn't a polished performance but it was the best home performance of the season to date a...
