I think Martin's diagnosis was depression. If that is the case I don't think football club management instils it; I think it brings it out so to speak.......more than likely he always had that 'gene' and a less stressful lifestyle no doubt helps. A smashing guy and very helpful to me on the one occa...

What is Lingy's team now anyone? Lingy's travelling team is called the Canning Town Vets who are from East London which should be enough capital connection to keep caldwell&dobson away for a start =D Martin is now working as a football coach at various levels, as asummariser for BBC London Spor...

What's this 'OUR football club'? Is it yours and not mine, your's and not anyone else's? and 'this' is to do with the denial of two young pro's being released by 'our' football club too late to maximise their chances of remaining in the professional game. Read the thread and take it in and it becom...

Lucy; when Charlie Duke was halfway through his two year scholar pro contract the academy was closed down and several of his compatriots left the club. Duke's father insisted they honour their contractual commitment to his son and the club then had issues accommodating him as he was too young to sha...

My advice not to walk out on a second club in two months was not against Anthony concentrating on his GCSEs and neither was it the reason. It was for football reasons and he has been successfully combining his schoolwork and football for more years than I care to remember. Indeed I reckon most of th...

It's not the integration into 'civvy street' I was on about.........it was the lack of forethought and consideration for those two in their quest to remain in the professional game that cost them a built in facility ~ the EFL exit trials. Geoff Harrop knows those events well enough; he has been to ...

I can vouch for the fact he had good reasons for not being around....... Good reason indeed; my PC was in for a clean up and wipe following a cyber attempt to extract a lot of money (well by my standards!) from my bank account. I've got it back now and after a busy morning re-established everything...

Merse attacking the club over the release of a young pro and the offer of non-contract terms to another is a personal issue for me - due to his circumstances with his son Anthony who is trying to make a living from the game. It is the nature of the business for youngsters to be released by clubs ac...

They're producing what you'd expect from such low quality employees and owners Nick.........we've seen it this season; and the close season is no different. How many pre-season friendlies have been announced? What attempt is there so far to sell season tickets? Close season events to produce revenue...

Similar, you couldn't make up half the x that comes from your posts either!!! To be honest I think what happens to the two young chaps is the least of our concerns!!! A very poor attempt at shifting focus from what you wanted... the club being more vocal about 'the retain list' Utter, arrogant crap...

Hancox and Duke should have been informed of their decisions much earlier and don't try to tell me that 'Mister Nicey' didn't know he was going to release these players before the opportunity to look after their own interests had gone. It's just another example of this club being managed by chancers...

Well that is a somewhat confusing state of affairs! Most clubs just come out and say who is retained and who is released but we appear to have come up with a new "middle ground" where we are neither saying yes or no to a number of players but a maybe???? Surely it would be better for all ...

.........and with his name 'doing the rounds' I reckon a decent club might take a punt on him if it doesn't work out and from a professional perspective that would be a much more sensible option for him than staying put on this ship of fools.
