Torquay United v Southend United Sat 25 Feb KO 3pm

BTW I think we missed Evans yesterday - he's taken a lot of stick from some during the season but I think much of it was unfair and at least he works his socks off like Lapslie and unlike the rest of our midfield.

Torquay United v Southend United Sat 25 Feb KO 3pm

I was so steamed up when I got home I thought I should resist an early posting. The first half was very poor with just two powder puff attempts on goal and one on target. The second half was a slight improvement with six attempts and two on target but we never looked likely winners of that game. Per...

Torquay United V Notts County Sat 4 Feb KO 3pm

That was not a clear penalty! Indeed it was no penalty at all. Wyatt definitely got the ball first despite Nemane getting on his wrong side. Would like to have seen the Moxey penalty shout earlier in the game - looked a far more obvious penalty from where I was. So, overall, I felt United did well e...

MOTM - Notts County

Donellan - regularly won 50/50 challenges and moved the ball forward with purpose Lapslie - for the goal and all round energy but was often chasing shadows given the quality of the opposition Lawrence - apart from their first goal it was an assured performance from the youngster Moxey - used his vas...

Torquay United vs Taunton Town 17/01 - 19:45

Agree with Gateman we were superior for most of the match 16 attempts, 10 on target, 4 goals. Not sure how Somersetgull can say Taunton should have been 4-0 up at HT. They only had three attempts all game.

MOTM - Halifax

Donellan - two goal saving clearances and general calmness at the back Hall - for the goal but also for a combative display in midfield Lapslie - didn't stop running and with Hall maintained midfield superiority which we have lacked in previous games Halstead - some assured keeping and at least one ...

Gary Johnson, stick or twist?

Best bit of social engineering I have seen for some time, how a manager can go from loser to hero in one week according to a poll when he hasnt won a game since 1876 just shows that anything of value can be skewed , especially by those running a suppposed web site for fans. This will come back to h...

January transfer targets

Halstead should be one of the first to be secured - one of the few non-loan players to be able to hold his head high this season.

MOTM - Yeovil

Halstead - two or three excellent saves to save the point and no chance with the goal Donellan - generally secure at the back and brought the ball forward well at times Ellis - for his goal but showed a tendency for at least one howler per game which almost cost us Evans - tried his energetic best t...

Torquay United v Yeovil Town - 26th December 2022

This was an entertaining match with all the hallmarks of a local derby with end-to-end action, full-on effort (but see below) and crunching tackles. Only the absence of quality in the final third kept the scores down for both teams. For us it was 5 points dropped though as the poor quality of the su...

Chippenham town cup game 20/12/22

Yes, the first half was a difficult watch - we made Chippenham look like Argentina! They played through and around our excuse for a midfield and McGavin gifted them the ball for their first goal. The defence was not much better - Ellis had the poorest game I've seen him play - and Crowe was his usua...

MOTM - Oldham

Halstead - some fine saves to keep us in it
Goodwin - a combative performance with a fine goal
Lapslie - made the difference in midfield
Evans - tried hard all game to make things happen
Moxey - the only defender who inspired confidence

Oldham Athletic v Torquay United, Sunday 11th December, Live on BT Sport

Much like England I thought we were unlucky to lose after a poor first half performance but a really spirited second half. We were much better with the formation change and Lapslie made the difference in midfield which we started to use productively after the break. The moves that led to both goals ...

MOTM - Gateshead

Difficult one because no one really shone but it was a goodish team performance. In terms of the result I would suggest: Halstead - two fine saves to keep Gateshead from taking the points Jarvis - for scoring a goal when we seemed destined to be scoreless McGavin - for his best display of the season...
