The Gaffer

We have had some poor managers since Ling went sick. Based on their first 10 league games in charge, where they all faced similar issues of having to take on someone else’s team, a team not doing especially well, we saw the following: Knill 12pts - a better ratio than he managed later with his own t...

AFC Fylde v Torquay United 18/11/17

How far we fall.

6 years ago today we destroyed Plymouth at Plainmoor. Now we expect to lose to clubs like AFC Fylde.

Boycott

I understand the sentiment behind the notion of boycotting, or choosing not to go, or whatever you want to call it. I also, completely understand the feeling of not wanting to deliver any of one’s hard earned money into the clutches of Clarke Osborne. He must sit in his ivory tower, in Bristol or wh...

Gary Owers - The Truth!

Couldn't help but be curious why a 2nd kit manufacturer would use an identical kit design. Well indeed it's seems they were the same company in someway shape or form. I don’t know if they were. Henson also supplied Aston Villa’s kit at the time, and I can’t imagine that a club like Villa was suppli...

Gary Owers - The Truth!

Coastline didn’t come until the season of Cyril Knowles. Dave Webb used a company called OSCA for the infamous ‘Chelsea’ Kit, which was a Blue version of the red OSCA Kit A.F.C. Bournemouth had when Webb was there. The yellow kit that we had when Webb left was initially produced by Henson during the...

Torquay United podcasts

What happened to the promising “On The Popside”podcast? They really told it how it was and even had sponsorship but then disappeared without trace. A shame as they did a good job.

List of Players who were rubbish with us, but have gone on to be good

Another is Neale Marmon. Terrible for us but had a reasonable career in the lower leagues of Germany and a season or so with Colchester.

List of Players who were rubbish with us, but have gone on to be good

Can this include a different take ...' players many thought were rubbish but wasn't ' if that isn't being anti subjective Khalid chalqi...if anyone remembers ...rated him a lot. Always found time on the ball and had a footballing brain Great call. I really liked Chalqi. Sadly, McFarland didn't. Ano...

List of Players who were rubbish with us, but have gone on to be good

We once had Paul Hayes on trial. He might even have played against Plymouth when Wes was manager. Wes didn't sign him anyway and he went on to have a goal-laden career mainly for Scunny. Ryan Harley didn't do enough to impress Ian Atkins and was released so we could sign a short stocky (and useless)...

Fa Cup 4th qualifying round Aldershot v Torquay 14/10/17

Nicholson, Owers, Herrera, Hargreaves, O'Farrell - it probably doesn't matter because we're all playing along to Clarke Osborne's tune. The club is owned by a multi-million pound organisation, yet this pretty big club for the level we are at, is even worse off than it was under the David Phillips re...

Torquay v Dover Saturday 7/10/17

In my view, Luke Young is one of the only players to emerge with any credit this season. Last season was his first having come back from a serious injury and yet he has always struck me as a player who does roll his sleeves up and almost carries the team at times. He cannot do much about the quality...

Owers yet to sign a contract.....

But when you shop at the local food bank you're going to have to select from mainly bruised apples...... True, but then he shouldn't go on about that the next manager will think he has won the lottery with the squad that Nicholson left him. That is clearly the stuff of delusions. Nicholson left a s...

Owers yet to sign a contract.....

Perhaps the board actually realised that Nicho had no idea what he was doing and held back the money for someone who wasn't going to chance it on lottery tickets !! Exactly!!!! It didn't take long for Nicholson's Emperors' new clothes to disappear did it; not much support for him on here now and it...
