Sutton united V Torquay United 21/11/17

......am I the only person that doesn't think that 'Gowling' fits into the TUFC matchday team. I think he is singularly potentially one of the best players that we have but in our current team I find him uninspiring, he is quite slow, cumbersome and his marking is distant at times. He looks to me l...

Sutton united V Torquay United 21/11/17

Didn't enjoy the game much, too bloody tense at the end to enjoy it. They were the better team overall and have one or 2 good players for this league. BUT WE WON and that's all that counts really. We were ok, especially as we were away and playing a team near the top. The team worked its socks off,...

The Gaffer

The objective is to achieve and retain possession....... There is nowhere anywhere on the park that being in possession is being under pressure compared to the opposition being in possession; not if you're a competent passer of the ball it isn't! If you are in possession, the opposition cannot score.

In effect Sturruck is saying to Owers in public "I can do your job better than you can". But of course for almost two years now he cannot get a job of his own in football management! The last time he was at Plainmoor he departed just four days later, after being appointed manager of Yeovil Town on ...

The Gaffer

The issue you make regarding the kickoff surely is obvious to any fool, oops I mean obvious to anyone that watches or plays football. You see the tactic of punting the ball forward early doors from kick off in a high percentage of games at any level, just as you have rightly pointed out , so do we....

Its unfair to say they are underperforming after so few games as well. Give them a chance.
It's ludicrous to say that after ten games; ludicrous, deluded and driven by an ulterior motive I would say!

Whilst input from such a person (as the real) Paul Sturrock would be invaluable, it should be done on a man to man basis and not via social media. If (the real) Paul Sturrock wanted to contact Owers and Kuhl he must surely have their details amongst his multiple contacts; or if he hasn't..... then w...

Thanks for the offer but I feel by posting this on social media you are undermining the manager. It would be better to speak directly to Gary Owers than air the offer in public. Cant see him being interested now. Agreed ~ highly unethical and unprofessional. If this really is Paul Sturrock then tha...

The Gaffer

Basically, merse thinks Luke Young is the reason we are losing under Owers. He doesn't like McGinty either. Young's a poor player vastly overrated by people who cannot see that his influence on a game is nowhere near the level at which his role in the team demands. Watch him start the game on Satur...

I don't recall Owers naming and shaming players, more a broad line approach. Of course, the answer to that is that he hasn't. He's merely stated the bleedin' obvious which is what has been so obviously missing up until his arrival. Any team underperforming as the Torquay United side has should both...

Roll on Tuesday and let's hope "The Gaffer" can become "Mr Motivator" and get the team playing for each other even on a plastic pitch! The 'plastic' (3G) pitch will be of no consequence ~ United (in common with every other club in the league) have one to prepare on ~ so let's not start making excus...

The Gaffer

I am beginning to smell a whiff of #nichorevenge here from posters still miffed that the manager with the winning bedside manner~ the only winning manner he had this season ~ has been given more time to spend down at the local hospital rather than get in his car and do the homework necessary that wa...

Gary Owers knows that the only way to save us is to make changes to the current squad who know after yesterdays rollicking that the boss is losing patience with them. Time is running out and we need to change this losing mentality quickly and Owers knows this better than anyone. Any fool can see th...

The Gaffer

The tiresome and over-used term emanates from the limited vocabulary of Patrick Tinkler; not from the manager himself! I read your summing up of the situation as it stands and would counter that under Owers, I've not been aware of any capitulation or performance such as those against Solihull or Bo...
