MOTM - Tranmere

Myles Anderson was awarded 7 out of 10 by the Non-League Paper for his defensive performance for Chester against Solihull yesterday - has he ever reached those heights at Torquay? Meanwhile poor old Sam Chaney was on the receiving end of a 5-0 thrashing while playing for Whitehawk. Finally Gallifuoc...

Ian Twitchen -RIP

Very sorry to hear of 'Twitch's' untimely passing. He was one of several fine players in the Gulls' side during the '70's and never gave less than his very best; fond memories of watching the likes of 'Twitch', Kenny and Phil Sandercock, Steve Morrall, Mal Lucas et al. Could I echo the previous post...

The Gaffer

Good post - Owers and Kuhl are no fools, the players have lost confidence in their own abilty and being rock-bottom of the league is not helping them either. All very odd though when you consider the vast experience of the likes of Gowling and Davis, not forgetting that McGinty once played in the sa...

Talking Truro

I think the real reason we are in this situation is that the current owner(s) really have no idea how to run a football club. This uncertainty inevitably transmits itself to the management team and hence the players who seem to have lost belief in themselves. Gary Owers has said that there needs to ...

Torquay's problem now is that because of the minor publicity around signing this player, who clearly has a reasonable track record, is that other clubs with more money and higher up the league are going to want to sign him if only as a reserve striker.

Slight corection to my last post, Damon Lathrope scored from a free kick and 'trialist striker' scored from a penalty. There is a video to watch, showing stills from the game - which don't actually tell us much unless you're a Robins fan! http://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/all-about/cheltenham-tow...

Apparently a 'trialist striker' scored twice for Torquay this afternoon in the 4-3 defeat against Cheltenham, a match played behind closed doors. The Glloucester Live website was unable to give the striker's name, but Damon Lathrope did score a penalty!

In any case Gary Owers has said he knows nothing about a deal for Lambert. Does make you wonder where Dave Thomas gets his information - he was completely wrong about the managerial appointment as well. A lucky escape if Lambert is yet another crock.

Just reading up about Rickie Lambert - seems he's a bit of a crock with a lower back degeneration problem, which is why he retired.

However he has played for England, and Liverpool must have thought he was good enough to play for them. He does put himself about and would give us a much-needed physical presence, lump or not - look at Matt Rhead! He may just be the catalyst to get our season going, in the same way that Keiffer Moo...

If you believe DevonLive, Rickie Lambert may be about to sign for us - he 'retired' at the age of 35 from Cardiff City recently. Hmmmm, let's hope he's not another Rory Fallon!

I'm not at all sure where I should put this post, but it might as well go on here as it's about attendances! Very interesting fact in today's 'Times' footie supplement about comparitive attendances in the National League North and South. In theory both divisions are level in standard of football but...

Looking at the score, it seems that Buckland managed to lose at home as well. So no change there then. I had thought of watching Bude Town instead of traipsing the75 miles to Plainmoor to see yet another dismal performance. But Bude have managed to lose 11-1 and 7-5 in successive games, and are rock...

Torquay United v Maidstone United 11/11/17

The club is sleepwalking towards certain relegation this time and I can see no way of avoiding it. Sad but true.
