How many points do we need??

The number of points we actually need is exactly one more than the team finishing in 21st position. We are not out of it yet. Certainly we are not doing ourselves too many favours at present but we are improving, all be it slowly. I'm sure Owers knows what is needed, but it is not going to be easy t...

FA Trophy First Round

Love these little disagreements and hopefully minor fall outs. Ive been in a few, and rarely agree with some on here, too pompous for me. But oddly I agree with some of Merses post. This I agree with "At the end of the day this is a football club and as such a football club is in existence to bring...

I think you calling him a 'twart' (sic) constitutes abusive.

FA Trophy First Round

I agree, we are not a big club who have the arrogance to decide what we will and will not chase. We should give everything to the FA Trophy as it's a notable competition that ends with a day out at Wembley. It also gives our players more opportunities to gel and develop a winning mentality. :goodpo...

Torquay United v Leyton Orient thread

I think we were a tad unlucky that the game immediately after the Ebbsfleet victory was against Dover, who were by far and away the best team I have seen in this division so far. The Dover game followed the maidenhead game. As for Dover being the best side in the division, I can't agree, my thought...

Sutton united V Torquay United 21/11/17

After Solihull the other three to be relegated don't seem at all obvious unless someone hits real financial trouble. If from what I heard, and I understand it correctly, the relegated clubs may well indeed contain a surprise. It goes like this. There are sides competing for play off spots that have...

That's actually a ridiculous thing to say. Any player in possession should be under pressure, nature of the game.
So the key to the game is to let the opposition have possession then?

Offer of assistance

'You' don't even know who the Head Coach is do you! That just about sums it up. Brucie, on the related thread, talked about this forum being the home of the gullible. Fact is when things are not going well people tend to clutch at straws, as was seen when GI took over and there was all ma...

HELP

That’s the nature of the footballing business. If I was underperforming I’d appreciate any help that kept me my job and the company I work for in business. The thing is many people regard seeking/accepting help as an admission that they are out of their depth. Steve Perryman used to help out at Exe...

Boycott

When I first saw the thread title I assumed it was a call to organise a mass boycott (the actual meaning of the term). Instead it was an individual saying why he wasn't attending anymore (apparently he would rather see Buckland lose at home rather than Torquay). Given the misleading title he shouldn...

Very confused - what is GI's game?

I'm all in favour of demolishing greyhound stadia so in that respect i like Osborne. If you want to race greyhounds then fine, just make sure once they can't earn you anymore money that you look after them and don't pass them on. As nobody does this then yes, go Clarke! Right behind you man! I'd ra...

When I began going in the 70s the ground was unsegregated and you could go in the popular side, ellacombe end and babbacombe end from any of the turnstiles. However I seem to remember that in front of the grandstand was a kind of paddock which had a turnstile by the entrance to it and you had to cou...

For all the crap aimed at masters on this forum, wouldn't you rather have him as owner than Clark Osbourne ?

Before the benches were added what kind of supporter went in there ? Did kids go into the main grandstand ? Also the bit on either side of the mini stand where people stood when did that go ? When was the mini stand built ? The mini stand regulars for the most part were teenagers and younger kids. ...

If I remember correctly the mini stand was just concrete steps with crush barriers. I believe the benching was added after the loss of seating in the old grandstand after the 1985 fire. Also from about 1980 the mini stand had a fence erected in front of it. This was an absurd decision because the ca...
