Torquay United v Leyton Orient thread

Good performance, great effort put in from the players and the gap closed to 4 points so onwards and upwards. Orient’s performance is nearly the worst I’ve ever seen at Plainmoor. They were dreadful. When we think of our predicament over the last couple of seasons, spare a thought for the 'O's'. Th...

Sutton united V Torquay United 21/11/17

Unless, of course, you are a believer of Torquay's sacred 'Book of Proverbs' {23:2} "We're tarred with this 'we're bottom of the league, we're rubbish'. Well, we're not rubbish any more - we're getting there," Dam! I have to now become a follower of the sacred Sanskrit teachings of the Supreme Kris...

Sutton united V Torquay United 21/11/17

League position is gained by merit and Sutton who are currently in 3rd place in the National League table, should tell you all you need to know about this side. Any team that cannot beat Solihull, Chester or Halifax in their home matches, should not expect to come away from Sutton victorious. Unless...

The Gaffer

We did have a centre back last season (whom I thought had huge potential) who did not reach the magnificence of Torquay standards. Very versatile player able to play in central defence, central midfield and at right-back. He went by the name of Giancarlo Gallifuoco.

Whatever did happen to him ?

"...and laud the previous incumbents for the 'achievement' of finishing 17th in this league." Fair point, but only if the present incumbents can better it. "Owers and Kuhl inherited this losing mentality; that's how they came to be here" . As we are making fair points, was that not how the previous...

The Gaffer

We seem to have two extremes don't we? Nicholson who only blamed himself and Owers who blames everybody but himself. One has two 'great escapes' to his CV but was not given the opportunity to make it three in a row. The other is working at trying to muster one 'great escape' but will he succeed? Bl...

Now there's a depressing thought. Truro take our place in the Conference and their first home game is played in of all places - Plainmoor. Whilst our motley crew of a "not rubbish now" side are shuttled by mini-bus up to Weston-Super-Mare to play in front of the 250 die hard Weston Supporters. We ar...

Most league goals in 2017 (not inc. PENS; top 6 tiers): 28: Dayle Grubb 27: Kane 24: Doidge 23: Ainge 21: Lukaku, Parkin, Rowe The issue here is Grubb is not even a striker - plays midfield. Another possible: Warren Bentley 11 goals in 12 games since joining Poole FC. Ex-Southampton's academy, Bentl...

His contract with FC Inter Turku (Finlands Premier League) ends on 31/12/2017, so I expect they are giving him freedom to find another club. To come into our team cold and score two goals in closed doors friendly against Cheltenham has to impress. Good pedigree with early years spent at Marseille an...

Torquay United v Maidstone United 11/11/17

I think we have been 'let off the hook' today with all the other bottom clubs losing. I agree with most others on improvement in style of play etc. but we must convert that into wins. One or two have stated 'give it time' so lets do that. We have 8 games leading up to the New Year and the points we ...

James Gray Joins York on Permanent Contract

I really do like torquayfansstats, even if can make dismissal reading. 'Assists' are a vital cog in winning games and one only needs think of masters of this in the Premier league to know what I mean e.g. Kevin De Bruyne Man City. ... Cesc Fàbregas Chelsea. ... Henrikh Mkhitaryan Man Utd. ... Alexis...
