Mansell gone?

I would agree that looks a strong midfield, unfortunately given the little amount of game time CH gave Harding not sure if it would happen. Which I think is a shame as ( prepared to get slaughtered) think that Harding is a good player , and is certainly better than Manse has been over the past couple of seasons

Mansell gone?

What I think Neal is saying is that,
pro footballers are on a fixed term contract most with a term of 12/24 months , whereas most employees have a maximum of 1 - 3 months notice period , thus for a pro if the get released before the end of the contract they get the remainder paid up...and for our players ( not mansel) it's 12 months , but for you and me we could be out of work with only a months pay

FA proposing League Structure changes

Ok so if the bring in 10 premiership reserve teams and have for arguments sake 2 teams per season being promoted , chances are that for the next 5 years it's unlikely that any of the other ( non premiership b teams ) teams will get anywhere near the next league ... Then what will happen if another group of premiership reserve teams want a piece of this cake ?
You could seriously see those either on the wrong side of this divide or those relegated to this league not getting out of it for a considerable time because of this..

how do people feel about that thought playing in the same league with no possibility of advancement ? What sort I player do you think that would attract ? So the thought of playing Man city / Utd B team starts to pale a lot to me ..

Torquay United v Rochdale 11/03/14

Agree with the comments about the team giving it all, but because the crowd was so small you could hear all the comments the crowd were making, and the dogs abuse the tonge was getting, especially "liked" the one where he made a headed clearance and some one shouted that "it was the first time he headed the ball all night" ...could be that Rochdales tactics were to isolate him against the 6ft plus guy on their left hand side...and try and get him to head the ball on/ back into the danger area ..exactly where their goal came from.

Or perhaps the other comment about rice keeping the ball on the pitch after kicking it out once whilst trying to release benyon for a quick break, rice who's distribution is so much better than pokes ..

We are all in this together so let's suspend our petty dislike of individual players and support the whole team till the end of the season

FA Cup Round 1, Torquay vs Rochdale 9/11/13

Game summed up in one sentence

Total lack of creativity , result total boredom , oh and out of the cup in the first round , and a long hard season ahead.

Re: Could get interesting .....

There is never a good way of sacking someone, although face to face is probably best , however , what is the point of dragging ML 3 odd hours down here for what is essence going to be a 10 min meeting ... As far as Mrs B reading a prepared statement down the phone ...too damn right, there are enough legal experts on the board or with access to them to ensure that as she is a novice in the field of HR (I assume) that she is told exactly what too say otherwise we could be faced with a very big compensation claim for wrongful dismissal .

As far as being a club or a board with bad repretation ....do me a favour , was it not two years ago we let a manager and a " bigger" club walk all over us prior to one of our biggest games ever? Think we will still be seen as exactly what we are ...a small club with a typical league 2 board.

Floodlights

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but did any one else notice how poor the floodlights were in the second half last light. Especially on the pop side , might explain why the linesman was so poor..

The lighting seemed very patchy, with parts of the pitch looking ok, but along the Pop side touchline it was pretty dark, I noticed Jarvis at the start of the second half looking around and up as if too see if they were working on that side .

Re: how to get the fans going

Re argyle for £10.00 today, I also thought I heard that they were providing Free Coach travel to Burton ?? next Saturday ... How proactive is that compared to our Board .

Even if the board dont do anything for the fans next week...and I don't believe they will, what we need , is to get behind he team from the off...and for the team to give us something to get excited about, doesn't always have to be goals (although that would help...a lot) , but passion, commitment and a desire to run through brick walls for the shirt. Something which hasn't been in a great deal of evidence this season

Re: What position do we need to strengthen

Judging by Knills comments a centre back is top of the shopping list, which I can understand given downes imjury thought McDonald looked knackered on Saturday , now understand why .. He was sick Friday night / sat morning, but think he is good enough to start, cover is still needed.

Danny , your team certainly has lots of pace, but is very , very limited in terms of experience and it would be one thing I would be very worried about .

I don't know when the loan window closes, but I would like to see Macklin, given a chance to prove himself on the wing, before we look to strengthen there, he has missed so much of this season that a run of 4/5 games might just be the difference in not just his season but career, remember he was out on his ear at the beginning of it.

To me the biggest question is what has Craig done/ said to mean his total absence from the squad, it i would have him in the squad , not sure about starting as I would feel better with he two holding midfielders ..manse/Easton/lathrope and 2 more attack minded wide players Bodin/Macklin backing up Rene and Benyon.

Re: Torquay United v Port Vale - 23/2/12

Not sure bringing in wholesale numbers of new players will help, look at Plymouth 7 new players from when their new manager started and where are they in the league? When you are in a dog fight you want some one who is prepared to scrap it out , would loanees do that? Or would they upset the team spirit ?

However, wouldn't be adverse to 1 or 2 new faces , but in what position ? Centerback ? Depends on how bad Dowes hamstring is ? Midfield creativity ? What's happened to Craig ? Is Morris back to fitness ? Upfront ? Rene walking a tightrope a couple of bookings away from another suspension ?

Some tough questions for knill
